Food & shopping
Shop locally, cook for yourself.
Bring your own groceries – our apartments are set up so that you can cook really well. If anything is missing, the neighbouring cider press right here sells basic groceries as well as a few specialities and soft and alcoholic drinks. In summer you can pick herbs in the garden.
For other local specialities, we recommend the farm shops in the village, the NABU’s home-grown vegetables in summer and the fish shop with trout and carp fresh from the pond. Various farmers in the village sell fresh eggs – just look out for the signs. There is a game shop, and the pond landscape offers plenty of local specialities. The nearest large supermarket is about 10 minutes away by car in Fehrbellin or Kremmen.
You will find restaurant recommendations in our guest folder on site.

The village of Linum
Linum lies on the edge of the fascinating Oberes Rhinluch nature and bird reserve, a region of exceptional beauty and a habitat of great biodiversity. Its picturesque landscapes are shaped by dense vegetation along the extensive wetlands, a paradise for waterbirds.
Linum is known well beyond the region for its rich birdlife. In the meadows and fields, birdwatchers can discover an abundance of species, including geese, storks and birds of prey. In spring and autumn in particular, tens of thousands of cranes and wild geese gather here on their way between their breeding and wintering grounds. Some cranes have also made the area their home. Birds such as herons and ducks find ideal conditions for breeding and feeding. Rare species such as the black stork and the osprey live here too – and even the majestic white-tailed eagle, a symbol of untouched nature, is at home here.
The Oberes Rhinluch nature reserve
Besides its birdlife, the area around Linum is home to many other animals, including rare reptiles as well as roe deer, foxes, beavers and wild boar.
Numerous rare plants thrive in the wetlands of the Oberes Rhinluch, including various orchids, sedges and aquatic plants. This vegetation forms the basis of a complex ecosystem that offers a wide range of habitats for endangered species. By protecting these valuable habitats, we can ensure that the diversity of nature in the Oberes Rhinluch is preserved for future generations.
